EFB Holiday Family Part 3

Well, it’s hard to believe it’s already December and 2021 is almost over.  Our Holiday Adopt A Family Food Program is well underway.  We have canvassed over 150 locations within the City of Edmonds of churches, stores, offices, restaurants, banks, bars, and pot shops.  We are very appreciative of how people have responded to this urgent need of food insecurity with our community.  We now have several designated drops off locations for food items.

As I reported on my first blog entry a month ago that Edmonds Food Bank helps assist families with the food assistance for 350 families every week. Last week it CLIMBED to 509 families that depend on our services. We are truly thankful for the generosity of over 200 dedicated volunteers that donate over 3,000 hours every month just to help meet these current demands of community members who are experiencing food insecurity.

We are totally reliant upon monetary donations to meet this budget.  Inflation cost continues to escalate and has hit everyone. But especially for people on limited incomes or people experiencing job loss or reduction in hours.  Some of the new people needing services now are people for the first time in their lives needing food assistance. Many governmental food assistance programs from the COVID Pandemic are going away.  Achieving this goal of $100,000.00 is imperative by the end of the year will help us to be able to meet the winter months expenses. Typically, the first quarter of the year is when our donations dwindle drastically! The cost of utilities usually rises during the cold months sufficiently.  The beginning of the year a lot of people make New Year resolutions.

Reviewing their household budgets as well as their giving habits around the beginning of the year.  Please consider the Edmonds Food Bank in your generosity of giving or either your Time, Talent or Treasure.  If Casey the Director of Edmond Food Bank knows that we have consistent pledges coming in on a month basis it’s easier to plan her fiscal budgets.

As well as expand the needed services within our community.  As this holiday season continues when we gather with our family and friends. Let’s be mindful of our community members who are struggling with food insecurity. The Family and Friends component of this offering is essential. If you asked 2 other people to donated to this worthy cause, we would make an enormous impact!  So far Holiday Adopt A Family Program has raised X $ dollars amount of towards our goal of $100,000.00
