Thanks From Adopt a Family Program

I would like to first thank everyone who supported our Holiday Adopt-A-Family Food Program.  We canvassed over 200 locations within the City of Edmonds, including churches, stores, offices, restaurants, banks, bars, and marijuana dispensaries. We are very appreciative of the way that people have responded to this urgent need in our community.  We had several designated drop-off sites at Walgreens and Winters Place, 220 Bingo, Dank's, and Flower + Weed.  We collected over 1,000 pounds of food and clothing. We collected more than $5,000.00 from this event.

We met many new people and businesses that share our commitment to assisting our community members. Our fundraising efforts must continue in order to meet the increasing demands we are now experiencing. Last year at this time, we averaged about 500 families a week who depended on Edmonds Food Bank to supplement their food needs.  We are currently serving over 600 families a week. As you all know, the inflation rate continues to be felt by everyone! Prices of groceries have increased by 6.8%  in January 2022 alone and they are expected to increase throughout the year. Fuel and utility rates also continue to rise.

As you can imagine, it's becoming harder and harder to budget for food purchases when the inflation rate continues to escalate. We are very fortunate to have over 200 faithful volunteers and 3.5 employees who are dedicated to the mission of addressing food insecurity. We are very thankful for the generosity of the community members who have and continue to support the efforts of Edmonds Food Bank.  I would kindly ask every time you go to the grocery store please be mindful of the many people who are struggling in our community with food insecurity.

Please consider making a small monthly donation so that we can plan on a steady stream of cash flow to help meet the growing challenges with our city.  Again Thank You for your time and consideration.
